Hi, would like to suggest a small change in the sentence. The screen which displays the Tata logo is actually also for the horn. This can be seen in Faisal Khan's review. Watch at around 24:34. You can see that he is pressing the screen, but the horn honking can be heard.

There is a small cubby boxed area for knickknacks but never a cup hole. And again, hardly seen people drinking coffee(at max tins) while driving cars in India.
Not sure if you are talking about Nexon here, but the sliding tray had (or at least my 2017 Nexon has) two cup holder grooves. It may not be for large cups but you can still fit in pepsi and cola cans in there easily. If you are not using it for beverages, then there is enough space to store wallets and large sized mobile phones.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Great review! As always, the review is precise and on-point.

This version of the Nexon seems to be an incremental upgrade in almost every aspect. For me Nexon will always be the best car in the sub 4-m SUV/cross-over segment. It has a right mix of almost everything.

What is disappointing however is the QC aspect of the vehicle, or rather the lack of it. After all these years churning out Nexons in 5 digit volumes every month, Tata still managed to screw-up on the QC front. I mean imagine this - this review will be read by thousands of potential buyers and the QC errors are glaringly visible for everyone to see. My cousin has a 2022 Nexon dark edition and he spent the first year getting the niggles and issues ironed out. His car was in the ASC almost every other month to get some minor issue fixed. While he is very happy with the car overall, Tata really needs to up their game in this aspect.

Also, call this nitpicking, but the Tata logo looks out of place on this car - especially on the rear hatch door. I am not sure if I am the only one who feels this way though; I find it weird no matter how I look at it.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Gagan Choudary commented at the end of his video review that sufficient time was not given by Tata to review the car,and he added that it was as if the company was trying to hide something.

This will not reflect well on the brand, openness leads to glitches coming out in the open so that they can be sorted out at the manufacturing level.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

It's crazy how this car has dynamic LED front and rear lights with welcome function which was only available on cars 8 segments above such as flagship Bmws and Mercedes models.

And then right below that, they have decided to save 50rs by eliminating a reverse light bulb.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

The purple interior looks very good and lively. The instrument cluster looks smart. Seems like the cowl sufficiently protects the screen from glare - viz a small, but very relevant detail during daily usage.

Replacing the horizontal-X on the hatch door with a sleek LED light is a brilliant decision.

I had hoped that they'd use a new platform with more UHSS such that the car weighs just around the same as Fronx while retaining structural integrity for good safety ratings. Now the extra 350kg will show up in the fuel efficiency, especially with the petrol engine. So I will still lean towards the torquey Diesel engine on my recommendations to anyone with usage more than even 30km per day. I personally don't believe the AMT is as jerky as people imagine, especially with the city roads where potholes are anyway far more jarring than a light dab during the gear change. Tata should specify changing the oil periodically for maintenance of AMT & offer good warranty + extended warranty packages.

Yea never understood silly omissions like this. Power window switch lights are another miss. Fancy ambient lighting will be provided but not power window lights

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Thank you for the detailed review. The new NEXON undoubtably is a stunning looking car (minus stupid illuminated logo in the middle of steering wheel and touch controls) with previous (unrefined petrol or refined diesel) engines however features alone might not be enough to pull it through.

Most of the reviews are talking about quality issues which can be due to multiple reasons.
a) Rushed launch cutting corners
b) Poor Quality Control (lower budget allocated for QC)
c) Chalta hai attitude (its already a good selling car so customers will ignore it and buy it anyways)

Whatever the reason maybe it poorly reflects on a brand like TATA as there was time when Maruti Suzuki was associated with poor safety but slowly they have picked up their game with 4 star rated Brezza. TATA on the other hand talks hard about 5 star safety but pretty distant with QC and ASS.

It will be interesting to see how this works with Indian car buyers.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

I am flabbergasted at the number of issues these new cars are displaying. Remember these are media cars. Tata knows people will watch these reviews and judge them. They still make and give such cars to media.

Now imagine what kind of cars normal customer might be getting .

Regarding features too it's not much upgrades IMO. Especially considering the price this car will come at (17-18 L).

I have a 2018 Ecosport S. Nexon gets the following over Ecosport.
360 degree camera
Front parking sensor
Ventilated seats
Rear AC vents
Drive modes
Wireless charger

Ecosport gets the following over the Nexon -
Request sensor on passenger door
Full size spare alloy wheel
All illuminated buttons
One touch up down for driver window
Puddle lamps
7 color ambient lighting
Cup holders and massive bottle holders all around.

Some things that can be of equal level-
Nexon gets LED headlights whereas Ecosport has HIDs.
Nexon gets a great MID, but Ecosport was also well loaded. Just that Nexon looks much more modern.

PS- I am not really comparing Nexon and Ecosport. Just wanted to highlight the feature addition isn't too revolutionary. They have also deleted quite a few.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Excellent review as always. This is a very feature loaded vehicle, and will set the bar high for upcoming releases in this segment. Thankfully they fixed that strange rear end from the previous version.
The purple interior lighting and seats are a bit off putting though.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Thanks for the fantastic review. Great work from TeamBhp.
Just wanted to point out that the screen illuminated with Tata logo also doubles up as the horn pad. It is not limited to the strip below the screen.

As for the product, I like the changes brought by Tata. They have addressed most of the demanded upgrades, and retained what was already working for Nexon.

Changes that I like in the facelift:

1. DCT in place of AMT
2. 6 Airbags standard across the variants
(Above two are the most important additions according to me)
3. 360 camera & it's superb quality
4. Improved Infotainment screen & Instrument cluster (especially integration of Map in it)

In addition to these, I already liked the suspension set-up, back seat comfort, handling, and ride quality in general. And Tata has carried that forward in the facelift as well.

However, it baffling how Tata can't work on quality control. Such a well rounded product deserves better attention to the detail. It's simply unacceptable to see these niggles in media drive vehicles. Along with it, Tata also needs to ensure the electronics are up to the mark in the longer run.

The dark roof-liner along with the dark interior might feel claustrophobic to some. But most of the cars have gone with dark roof-liner nowadays, so maybe this is the trend. Personally, I would have appreciated it in a lighter shade.

As for the other negatives about the vehicle mentioned in some of the comments, I think those won't matter to most of the buying public. It's strictly my opinion, feel free to disagree with it.

The illuminated logo could have been avoided. Tata could have provided buttons for the controls. Windows could have had one touch up and down function, and backlit switches. Some of us won't like the colors, or the design. Tata could have provided more storage space. This list is endless for every car in the market.

Some have also pointed out that DCA is not performance oriented. I don't think Tata is aiming for that with Nexon. The focus seems to be more on the side of providing smoother gear shifts. Although we can expect 7-speed DCA with Altroz i-Turbo sometime in the near future, and that would be fun.

Looking at the feature list, the one provided in Nexon is significantly more practical, and much more costly too. If asked to choose between the two, most of us would definitely prefer the features provided with Nexon.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Thanks for the prompt and detailed review.

This is subject to correction on passenger airbag in my previous post @ "Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023" thread.

One more smart move, "Passenger Airbag On\Off" indication is on top and deactivation switch is provided near glovebox on opening the front door.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Are they using the Harrier derived ORVMs for all variants except the base variant where they use the ORVM from the old Nexon aka Tiago ORVMs?!

If yes, that seems like a very wierd way to cut costs.

Costly?- yes, practical- Can't really say. Except the ventilated seats I won't prefer other features of Nexon over the other features which Ecosport got (considering smaller sub 4 meter footprint of both). I forgot to add the telescopic steering adjust with Ecosport got, over only Tilt of Nexon.

But I think we are comparing two wrong cars. A 2017 car ought to lose with the latest 2023 car atleast in the features department. Let's try and compare the current Sonet-

Nexon features over Sonet-

Auto Wipers
360 degree camera
Blind view monitors

Sonet Features over Nexon-
Remote engine start stop using key
Rear door window sunshades
Traction modes.

That said, let's see what Kia's got in store with respect to updates to Sonet. Have a feeling it would obliterate everything in its path.

Also, if you really find those set of features like puddle lamps, ambient lighting etc to be more practical, I guess we will just disagree over that.

Knowing how Kia operates, I'm sure Sonet will definitely have all the necessary features and much more beyond that. But it is also inevitable that Sonet would still have the same unstable structure underneath.

Because of this, I never compare Sonet and Venue with Nexon, XUV 300 & Ecosport. It is a personal choice. No matter what kind of features Kia and Hyundai provide, as long as there are other practical options, I will always prefer those.
