Re: Maruti Invicto Review

Maruti's Premium MUV Invicto's July sales figures. It could do an average of 1000 units a month, which is not a bad figure to start with.

MSIL numbers seems to be wrong. Looks like the car model name and numbers are switched at many places for some reason.

757 for Invicto is indeed a good start.

Re: Maruti Invicto Review

I am also in a quandary at the moment of which one to choose from. The Toyota has a horrendous waiting period and just 2 airbags (The model I am looking at). The Suzuki would be available earlier but how would be the resale be compared to Toyota in the future?

Re: Maruti Invicto Review

I've been looking for a thorough comparison of Suzuki Invicto vs. Toyota Innova Hycross with all the variants and couldn't find a comprehensive guide which would help in people looking for either of these vehicles. So, I decided to spend some time and get all the feature list and do a comparison now that all cars come with 6 airbags.

Invicto Zeta+ vs. Hycross VX

Features you gain vs. VX –
  1. LED DRLs and turn indicators
Features you lose vs VX –
  1. Front and reverse parking sensors
  2. 360-degree camera
  3. Tire pressure monitoring sensors (TPMS)
  4. Auto dimming inside rear-view mirror (IRVM)
  5. Automatic headlamps
  6. Acoustic windshield (dual pane) with green lamination (no IR cut in both; Zeta+ only gets green lamination)
  7. Rear defogger
  8. Front wipers with intermittent, time adjust and mist function (Zeta+ only gets intermittent)
  9. Immobilizer w/ Siren + Ultrasonic & Glass Break Sensor (Zeta+ only gets immobilizer)
  10. Welcome lights on outside rear-view mirrors (Zeta+ gets retractable ORVM but misses welcome lights)
  11. Additional remote operations – power windows close and AC on/off
Invicto Zeta+ ex-showroom price 7-seater – Rs. 24,79,000
Hycross VX ex-showroom price 7-seater – Rs. 25,30,000

Winner: Hycross VX

VX Costs extra 50k which I think is more than justified. More than the price, it’s the missing features in Zeta+ like parking sensors, auto dimming IRVM, defogger etc. which makes it unrecommendable. For 8-seater add 5,000 to both.

Invicto Alpha+ vs. Hycross VX(O)

Features you gain vs. VX(O) –
  1. Leatherette seats
  2. Ventilated front seats
  3. Powered driver’s seat with memory function
  4. Electric tailgate
  5. Dual zone climate control
  6. Wheel arch cladding
Features you lose vs VX(O) –
  1. LED front fog lamps
Invicto Alpha+ ex-showroom price 7-seater – 28,42,000
Hycross VX(O) ex-showroom price 7-seater – 27,27,000 (add 5,000 for 8-seater)

Winner: Invicto Alpha+

It’s a little tricky here. If you want an 8-seater VX(O) is your only option. If you want a 7-seater maybe spend a lakh more and get the Invicto Alpha+.

Invicto Alpha+ vs. Hycross ZX

Features you gain vs. ZX –
  • None
Features you lose vs ZX –
  1. Powered Ottoman 2nd row seats
  2. JBL 9-speaker system with subwoofer (Alpha+ only gets 6)
  3. 18” alloy wheels with 225/50 R18 (vs. 215/60 R17 in Alpha+, which might not be a bad thing).
  4. Adjustable rear armrests (Alpha+ gets them but they are non-adjustable)
  5. Mist function on wipers (Alpha+ gets intermittent plus time adjust function)
Additional features you lose vs ZX(O) –
  1. Toyota Safety Sense System (i.e., Advanced Driver Assistant System / ADAS)
Invicto Alpha+ ex-showroom price 7-seater – 28,42,000
Hycross ZX ex-showroom price 7-seater – 29,62,000
Hycross ZX(O) ex-showroom price 7-seater – 30,26,000

Winner: Tie

It’s not straightforward here as well. Hycross ZX/ZX(O) is 1.2-1.8 lakhs more, so if you want a 7-seater with branded music system and ottoman then get the Toyota version. If you want ADAS functionality ZX(O) is your only option. If you don’t care for those functions get the Alpha+, as its decently kitted and will save you 2-3 lakhs on-road.

Here is the TL;DR version (from my perspective).

Overall I will recommend getting Hycross VX for the lower end and Invicto Alpha+ at the top end.
  • Avoid Invicto Zeta+. Its missing too many basic features for a car that will cost you around 30 lakhs on-road.
  • If you are in a hurry get the Invicto Alpha+ as waiting periods are substantially lesser.
  • If you want to save money and don't care about missing features or sunroof etc., get the Hycross VX, now that it comes with six airbags.
  • If you want most features and don’t care for ottoman or ADAS get Alpha+ (you can always get good speakers aftermarket). This will save you 2-3 lakhs on-road (depending on the state).
  • I also think Suzuki should’ve offered Alpha+ in an 8-seater version (since they don’t have the complexity of ottoman and power recline mechanism) and that’s a missed opportunity.
Attaching the specifications and feature lists for both models and all variants.

Hope this helps.

PS: Mods please move this to an appropriate thread, didn’t know if I should post it in the Invicto or the Hycross thread.

Re: Maruti Invicto Review

To all comparing Invicto and Hycross, the Hycross has been updated and gets 6 airbags across all variants, from base to top-end.

This video also poped up today comparing the 2 cars

While I wait for my Invicto Alpha Blue. Nexa Mayapuri Delhi says the wait is likely to be 6-8months out. So in theory the wait time for an Hycross and Invicto is almost the same.

I just checked with a dealer (Nexa - Indus) in Kochi, Kerala. They have 7-seater version of Zeta+ readily available right now, a few of them in fact. Alpha+, they said have a 4-5 month waiting period.

FYI, some are reporting that Hycross has updated all models to 6 airbags now.

kudos for the great analysis!

I previously booked the Hycross VX 8S Super White (2 layer paint) with tentative delivery in Jan. Today I just blocked Invicto Zeta+ 8S Mystic White (pearly white) available in stock. I see the features of the VX but to me the wait is not worth it. Ideally I would have preferred the Alpha+ (over the ZX). But waiting 8-10 months is too much for me.

Here's my take on the features in order of most to least desired (for me):
  • Rear parking sensors: Seriously, MSIL? hopefully dealer can install
  • Memory seats: Will miss this, but regrettably this is always a top end feature
  • Wireless CarPlay: Though an extra to most, I think I will miss this the most. I've really enjoyed this on the Nexon EV #Dark
  • Rear defogger: shame, shame, MSIL! but maybe not necessary in Bengaluru??
  • Leather seats: nice but I can install covers. Still not the same as OEM.
  • 360 view: meh, IMO the implementation on this car is not as refined as some other cars I've seen. It's mainly the camera angles and calibration that are the problem. The interface is fine. I can see myself using this for a week or two. After that I will likely rely on reverse camera and side mirrors.
  • sunroof: Wow. The large open roof looks beautiful on this car. So big! but realistically it's not a deal breaker.
  • TPMS, Auto headlights, Auto IRVM, Auto tailgate, etc: nice to have but not a deal breaker
  • dual zone climate, ventilated car seats - Perhaps unnecessary for Bangalore?
  • accoustic windshield, welcome lights etc: ignorable extras. Pass
  • ADAS: Sigh, OK. So I've driven a Tesla. There is Tesla, and there are others. The others are just so far behind Tesla! It's really disappointing. Aside from the emergency breaking, IMO, this feature is not very useful. Even less so on Indian roads. Heavy pass.
  • MSIL vs Toyota: It's the same car. The badging makes no difference to me. At all. Hopefully service will be good.

TLDR; my wife said choose between the VX and Zeta+ coz she's not waiting for the Alpha+. Everything else is just me justifying that decision. If we could wait, I'd totally go for the Alpha+.

Re: Maruti Invicto Review

I think there is one thing which is in favour of three Zeta+ which actually made me switch from hycross and take delivery of the Invicto. The Zeta+ has 6 airbags versus 2 of the hycross vx. The insurance is also cheaper than the hycross by 60k. This should make the Zeta+ the winner against hycross vx

Re: Maruti Invicto Review

Thank you @nikhil_ag. I think and Im saying I think because Im still on edge that I will go for the Suzuki Invicto. So I thought about a few things..I was worried about resale but its not that Im selling the car in a few years. So why worry for something 5-7 years down the line.
Also your information that Toyota VX has 6 airbags is correct.

Almost no chance of this happening, Invicto is about improving Suzuki's image in the market, so the GX variant will be avoided.

Plus, Suzuki might not want a 8 to 10kmpl car, goes against what they are know for.

I hear you. I’m on the edge too now. Dealer is refusing to install parking sensors. IDK. I think it should be fine to park with just the camera but I’ll 100% regret it after the first backup accident. SA said they’d install and now saying no
