Re: Tata Altroz CNG Review

Thanks for the detailed review.

I just wanted to request that we raise awareness about the CNG kits and certifications and tests required and such. If someone can fill in on the requirements that would be great.
  • For example, do we need to do pressure test on these two tanks every 3 years and such. Will the certification cost increase?
  • What are the rates prevalent around India. I mean how much should a buyer be expected to shell out to get the test done every 3 years?

Higher maintenance costs & upkeep (overall) in comparison with regular petrol variant
Do we have details of the CNG Kit maintenance and CNG Filters change intervals?

Re: Tata Altroz CNG Review

Timely launch. I think Tatas are reading the economy perfectly; with better logistics for CNG retailing and impending price cuts in this fiel males it the safest bet for a frugal ownership.

Re: Tata Altroz CNG Review

Do CNG tanks have to be cylindrical in shape?
If they are cuboidal, can't manufacturers manage more boot space in cars?

Not really.

The Nano CNG had dual CNG tanks too. One each under the driver seat and the front passenger seat.

A cylindrical or spherical shape allows for equal pressure dissipation in all directions. A cuboid shape tank would need to be thicker either on the sides or on the corners (i don't recall exactly where), thus reducing the available volume for gas storage.

Quoting from the Tiago CNG review -

The cylindrical shape is essentially an elongated sphere and is more practical.

Re: Tata Altroz CNG Review

Thanks to Shashwat Tandan for sending this information and these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing them with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP share page!

I am considering buying an Altroz CNG.

I managed to fit a cycle full size in the test drive car with the rear seats folded. I also put in some suitcases to check the luggage carrying capacity.
Thought of sharing it with the community.

My 9-year-old loved the sunroof and the fact that it can carry her cycle.

Cheers

Shashwat
